There Can be Only One! – Golf Lesson

To know what shots are possible to do with your clubs can save you many shots and lets you get up and down more often.

In golf your ball will never be in exactly the same spots.

Being versatile with your golf clubs will help you to play confidently in difficult situations.

All golf professionals can produce all kinds of shots with their clubs.

I want you to experience this versatility. Today you take just one club with you in your bag.

I really want you to take out your other clubs out of your bag so you cannot fall back to them when you think it is getting too hard. I suggest a mid iron, maybe a six iron or a seven. You will be surprised what is actually possible with just one club.

Of course you will need more shots on the longer holes than usual but that is not the point of this exercise.

It is all about being creative with your club.

When I did this the first time I was especially surprised while putting on the greens.

You have to be really careful and choke down on your club so you do not butcher the green. But in the end I was surprised with which confidence I could make my putts. I think you will experience the same.

This exercise is even more fun if you play a scramble match with each player using a different club.

It suddenly gets a whole new strategic spin.

Who is playing first? Where to aim? Which shot to try?

When you are playing you have to play shots you never hit before, but that is the point. Nevertheless play smart. Drop the ball, if you face something impossible. Or chip the ball onto the fairway, if you are able to do so.

• Play a round of golf using only one club.
• Remove all the other clubs from your bag prior to the round.
• Play smart. Do not try to pull miracle shots on each hole.
• Try this in a scramble match.
