For some people the answer to this question is “Never”. Some people might even ask themselves what the sense of that would be.

After all, golf is about making the lowest score possible on 18 holes, right?

Well, yes and no. You might already guess where I am going with this.

For many people their score even determines the fun they have on the course.

And I am not talking about tournament golf here. Do you know a guy like that?

I do not want to sound like I‘m preaching here but I want to make my point that good golf does not come from chasing numbers, but from a love for the game and the enjoyment of being able to play it.

At least that is true for me.

Get Started With Swing Man Golf Today

So today I want you to play a whole round of golf without ever taking note of your score.

At first this may be quite hard for you. It was for me.

But once you get into the right state of mind, you will be just playing.

When I managed to do this for the first time and did not even take a score card with me, it was somewhat of a liberating moment.

I felt a big shift. Although I did not make any big advancements with my golf swing before, I suddenly felt that I was playing better a multiple times.

I am sure, it will be the same for you. Without taking your score into consideration you will not only pressure yourself less, but also acknowledge your good shots more.

And that alone makes it worth it. After you did this more often, you can let a friend count your score, but never ask until after the round.

I will bet that you shoot some of your best scores this way.

It is ironic that the less you focus on them the better they get.

  • Play a round of golf without counting your score.
  • Really acknowledge each good shot you are making.
