Of course you do not need any rules if you just want to whack the white rock around.

But in the end the rules where made for the players and give you options, e.g. when your ball is in some trouble.

Do you know the rules of golf? When was the last time you checked for any changes of the rules?

A new revision is being written and administered roughly every four years by the R&A (spun off from The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews), except the US and Mexico which are under the responsibility of the United States Golf Association (USGA).

You can find the current version of the rules on their official websites www.randa.org and www.usga.org.

Your task for today is to read up on the rules. That might seem boring to you. But I do not want you to learn anything by heart or spend hours with this.

I want you to focus on the important parts that might need some refreshing for you. E.g. teeing up and the tee shot, checking your equipment, hazards and how to drop properly etc.

Maybe you find something new that you did not even know of before. Take these rules seriously, as they might safe you some shots or penalties even.

The most important part of the rules is to be honest. People who are breaking every rule constantly are not only deceiving other players but most importantly themselves.

They never really know, if they are improving or if they are living in some kind of fantasy world.

  • Have a check up on the official rules of golf.
  • Focus on important parts like hazards, tee shots etc.
  • Make a mental note, if you find anything new that you did not
    know before.
  • Play by the rules,
