In golf you can do the same. Doing so you can learn to perform better under pressure and stay focused and dig deep when you start to feel tired.
You need a stopwatch and a lot of balls for this exercise. Here is the circuit I suggest for your long game.
Take a break of 10 to 15 seconds between each exercise and do the cycle at least two times in a row except for the warmup. You can do more rounds if you think you are still focused after you have done two.
5 min – warmup: Start by stretching and doing a couple of swings with a club of your choice. Then continue to warm up by using a weighted club or multiple clubs as a substitute.
3 min – swing hard: Swing as hard as you can for 2 minutes with a 6-iron. It does not matter where the ball goes. But you still want to aim at a target. Take at least one practice swing between each ball. Do not leave your setup during this exercise, if you can.
5 min – step back and swing soft: Use a Driver or Fairwaywood. Place a ball on the ground and step back. Then step up do the ball take your setup and swing as softly as you can, getting the club almost fall through the ball with its own weight.
3 min – 2 Ball: Use a long iron for this exercise. Place two balls on the practice tee, one in the front and one in the back. Hit the two balls one after the other starting with the one in the front. Use your normal swing and speed.
- Do the training circuit at least two times in a row.
